Snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef from Orpheus Island. It was not so much an island paradise as it was quiet, pristine, and the photography options were unbelievable. I chose this photo because it is representative of where we were.

Today we spent the day at the Reef HQ Aquarium. It was a full day of learning about marine life, coral, the Great Barrier Reef, and the human impact on the ecosystem. They have a tank in which you walk through this tube and the fish literally swim above you. This is my photo for today.

Today we visited a Banana Plantation. Besides there being lots and lots and I mean lots of Banana trees I was fascinated by the volcanic dirt. When this dirt gets on your shoes or clothes, it is very difficult to get it off. The red color was amazing!

On this day we went to Hartley's Crocodile Adventures for lessons on animals, especially Salties. I was so amazed at these that I could not sit down. Crocs are unbelievable and there are so many myths out there about them. I chose this photo because of the rich detail and it was looking at me. I think.

We were very lucky that the sun broke through the clouds for about 15 minutes at sunrise. When it did, this is the view we were treated to. Amazing!!!

Even though we did not have sunny weather for the sunset on Uluru, I still snapped this wide angle view of the rock. What a view!!

After our stay in Melbourne we hopped on a flight to the center of Australia, Alice Springs. During the next portion of our adventure we were to stay one night at the Ooraminna Homestead Lodge. Here went spent the night in "swag" or in other words a sleeping bag. We originally were suppose to camp out at night under the stars, but since the weather was not cooperating we spend the night outside under a shed. The people here were so nice and genuine it was still a plesant experience.
